To improve the dormitory workers’ wellbeing, the client wanted to provide better dormitory facilities to improve the workers’ quality of life and help them remain connected to their loved ones who are overseas. As such, the goal was to install network infrastructure and WIFI connection throughout the dormitory.

As there were thousands of dormitory workers who will be using the WIFI, enough access points and network security were needed. Additionally, with the rising risks of cyber-attacks in Singapore, the client was vulnerable to information access breaches due to remote working. Hence, an upgrade in security was a priority.

Over 1000 Access Points, switches, firewalls and routers were installed by Eemont for the client. To provide an additional layer of security, we suggested segregating the client’s CCTV networks and their enterprise internet network. After consultation with Eemont, our client evaluated the pros and cons and determined it was better for them to install a separate security network.

Project Duration: 6 Months

Customer Rating Greatly Satisfied

Customer Feedback: In the midst of Covid-19, Eemont’s Solutions assisted to connect dormitory workers with their loved ones and to provide teleconsultations to contain the spread of Covid within dormitories.

Final Notes:

With the segregated CCTV Network, eliminates reasons for the hacker to access the surveillance network. Thus, this client was able to prevent hackers from attacking their systems.

Separating the surveillance network from an enterprise network does have its fair share of pros and cons. In the above mentioned case, Eemont supports the segregation of networks as it allows optimal performance by minimizing shared bandwidth. However, different organizations have different goals for their surveillance and networks. Thus, an evaluation of company-specific benefits and challenges can help you make decisions on the solution that works best for your business needs.
